Early Life:

Rhodes was born on June 30, 1985, to Cody Garrett Runnels, a highly successful professional wrestler Virgil Runnels Jr., known professionally as Dusty Rhodes, and his second wife Michelle Rubio.

WWE superstar legally changed his name to Cody Garrett Runnels Rhodes, when he was a teenager. He had a successful high school wrestling career when he attended Lasseter High School.

He finished sixth in the 171 lb (78 kg) division as a sophomore. As a junior, he won the 2003 Georgia state tournament at 189 lb (86 kg) and repeated as champion in his senior year.

On September 23, it was confirmed that Cody had signed a multi-year contract with ROH. At the Final Battle on December 15, Cody, now a bleach blonde, lost the ROH World Championship to Dalton Castle.

On July 21, 2018, he and fellow Bullet Club members The Young Bucks defeated The Kingdom to win the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship, marking his first stint.

On November 4 Cody and The Bucks lost the titles to The Kingdom, at Survival of the Fittest after a 106-day reign and two successful title defenses. He challenged Jay Lethal at Final Battle but lost the match for the ROH World Championship.

It was reported by multiple sources that he had signed a contract with WWE, on March 18, 2022. On the first night of WrestleMania 38, Rhodes was revealed as the surprise opponent of Seth “Freakin'” Rollins, returning to WWE after six years and defeating Rollins.

He stated that he returned to World Wrestling Entertainment to win the championship for his father, His father never won the WWE Title.

At WrestleMania Backlash, he defeated Seth Rollins again in a rematch. Prior to their Hell in a Cell match at the eponymous event, Rhodes suffered a legitimate pectoral muscle tear, which was sustained halfway through the brawl on the previous episode of Raw.
